In an unconventional way, American rapper Redville called for a ceasefire in Gaza, taking advantage of the huge crowd of attendees who came to the “Odd Future Carnival,” or as it is known (Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival).
They are not numbers
Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles hosted the 2023 edition of the festival, which has been held every fall since 2012, during which Redville appeared wearing the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh, while on a large screen behind him he displayed the names of the children who died as a result of the Israeli bombing of Gaza.
The number of martyred children exceeded 4,000, during nearly 40 days of war and violations by the occupation forces during their war on the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 10,000 civilians and wounded tens of thousands.
Free Palestine
During the ceremony, Redville shouted, “No one on this damned list has reached the age of four,” before continuing, “If you were a human, you would feel something regarding what I say. It’s not complicated. Don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise.”
In front of the audience’s enthusiasm and lively excitement, he asked them to go to the “Ceasefire Today” website to write to Congress and try to communicate directly with its members to ask them to call for a ceasefire, before he ended his enthusiastic speech by leading everyone in chanting “Free Palestine.”
reactions
The reactions were positive, whether from the concert audience or the pioneers of social media platforms, especially since the attendance was the largest in Redville’s professional history.
Redville’s position comes in the wake of the escalation of global protests demanding a ceasefire, especially following Gaza’s hospitals stopped working and were besieged by the occupation forces, not to mention the death of many premature babies as a result of the siege.
More than 250 celebrities and those in charge of the entertainment industry in Hollywood called on US President Joe Biden to address what is happening and urge an end to the Israeli attack on Gaza, refusing to be a witness to this terrible human loss, through a public message published under the title “Artists from… Call for a ceasefire” (Artists4Ceasefire).
The Egyptian rapper Wiggs had initiated attempts to support the Palestinian cause in more than one way, the most recent of which was his participation in a peaceful demonstration in San Francisco in support of the people of Gaza, where he raised both the Palestinian flag and the scarf, before sharing his tour with his fans via his private page on Instagram.
This is what happened at the end of his concert tour in the United States of America, in which he donated a portion of its profits to the benefit of Palestine. He also used his concerts to inform his fans regarding the issue and try to raise awareness of the truth regarding what happened years ago and what is happening now.
25 artists from the Arab world participated in presenting the operetta “Rajeen”, which is the first Arab youth operetta in which rap stars from Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Yemen, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Morocco and the Emirates participate.
Note that the work was submitted voluntarily, without compensation. However, it was produced and filmed with high technology, and was able to attract the interest of many fans of this type of music, so much so that the number of views exceeded 3.7 million views within two weeks.
