Shipping company plans to sell the ships Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager

American Queen Voyages plans to focus operations in 2024 on its Mississippi, Snake and Columbia river ships and on its Alaskan expedition ship Ocean Victory. At the same time, the company will not return to the Great Lakes and intends to sell the two identical vessels Ocean Navigator and Ocean Voyager.

Florian Schneider, sales manager for continental Europe, highlighted the popularity of the company’s paddle wheel steamers, which operate on the Mississippi, Columbia and Snake Rivers. He regretted that the Great Lakes are no longer served, but stressed that the US rivers have always been the best-seller for the European market. He added that there has been growing interest in the company’s expedition cruises and that it will continue to offer Alaska cruises on the innovative vessel Ocean Victory, which balances comfort and environmental protection.

Cindy D’Aoust, President of American Queen Voyages, stressed that the company’s customers always praise river cruises in the United States and confirm this with their repeat bookings. The company plans to continue enhancing its popular river product through strategic partnerships and an enhanced culinary program.

The following itineraries are planned for 2024:

Lower Mississippi: This is where AQV kicks off the season with popular voyages through the towns and historic ports of the South on the American Queen, the largest steamship ever built, capable of accommodating up to 417 guests. For the first time, three-day and four-day trips are also offered.

Upper Mississippi: The popular Mighty Mississippi cruise stretches from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. This 16-day voyage combines wildlife and twisting locks and dams with southern charm and the birthplaces of jazz and country music.

Independence of the Seas meets violent hurricane: Dramatic scenes on board

America’s Heartland: The 245-guest paddlewheeler American Countess cruises the Ohio, Tennessee and Cumberland rivers. New offerings include a bourbon themed tour with well-known food and spirits experts.

Snake and Columbia River: Aboard the 221-guest American Empress, travelers can discover the pristine treasures of the Pacific Northwest, including new wine-themed cruises. Depending on the voyage, guests can also join a salmon fishing excursion and bring their freshly caught and cleaned catch on board to enjoy.
