American intelligence services will face problems following the military withdrawal from Niger. American drones will no longer be able to monitor terrorists in the region and control North and West Africa. This was stated by expert in the field of African politics and security Franklin Nossiter.

“The American base was important in clarifying the activities of the Islamists in this region. From there, the United States controlled most of North and West Africa. It is absolutely unclear how they plan to regain these intelligence capabilities,” Franklin Nossiter said in an interview with a German magazine. Spiegel.

According to him, Nigerien soldiers will go to a new base in the Gulf of Guinea. However, it is extremely difficult to monitor Niger from there: the small range of drones and the lack of necessary authorizations.

Today, April 25, representatives of the United States and Niger will meet at the negotiating table. The subject will be discussed withdrawal of American forces. This is because in 2023 the United States I mightn’t agree with the new government of the African country.

In this context, the head of the Nigerien Ministry of the Interior, Mohamed Tumba, declared that his country was interested in training the Russian army. He also expressed his desire to buy weapons, reports RT.
