American HAWK Air Defense System in Ukraine: A Gamechanger for Ukrainian Army’s Air Defense

The first photo of the American HAWK air defense system, which came into the possession of the Ukrainian army, has been published on the Internet. Experts have already paid attention to the inscriptions on the missiles. Judging by them, these ammunition were transferred to Kyiv from the storage of the US Army.

Let us recall that the HAWK anti-aircraft missile system was adopted by the American army in 1960. In addition to the MIM-23 guided missile, it also included a self-propelled launcher, radar stations for detecting and illuminating targets, a radar range finder, a control post and a battery command post.

The operation of these systems in the US Army continued until the early 2000s, when they were replaced by more modern air defense systems. Despite this, HAWK air defense systems are still in service in several countries. And the fact of their appearance in the Armed Forces of Ukraine may indicate that the United States is trying to solve the problems of Ukrainian air defense.

It is no secret that the air defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is severely depleted by missile attacks of the Russian army. During the last of them, the Ukrainian military frankly admitted that they were unable to hit most of the targets. But shortly before this, the propaganda of the Kyiv regime spoke of the 100% destruction of even Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.

Zelensky has recently, in his persistent requests to the West, demanded the transfer of air defense systems in addition to aircraft. But, since Washington is sorry for Kyiv’s modern air defense systems, the States, apparently, are planning to solve this problem by supplying outdated anti-aircraft missile systems.
