The “MEES” website, which means oil and economic forecasts in the Middle East, revealed that Chevron, the American gas and petroleum giant, announced the discovery of a new gas well called “Narges-1 X”, in the offshore Narges area near Al-Arish.
The Nargis well (in which Chevron operates at 45%, Eni at 45% and state-run Tharwa at 10%) discovered 3.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, a source told MEES.
The well is being drilled by the Stena Forth drilling rig.
According to the site, this discovery will be a great boost for Egypt.
For his part, a closely related source said that Chevron has been working in the Maritime Nargis concession area in the Mediterranean for some time, and a large part of the investments were pumped, which he refused to specify, explaining that the initial results are promising.
And the source continued, in exclusive statements, that the search operations are being completed to determine the size of the reserves in this disclosure, which requires a lot of measurements and research, which is currently being done so that the details of the disclosure and the size of the reserves will be announced following the completion of these studies.
Regarding the expected time for announcing the details of the reserves, it is currently under study and will be announced upon its completion, indicating that the increase in international oil prices prompted research and exploration companies to increase production, research and exploration to increase production volume and meet the needs of the local market.
