WASHINGTON: A study shows that sympathy for Palestine has increased among Democratic Party workers in the United States over the past few years. The new finding is in a survey conducted by Gallup Global Research in the United States.
Studies show that for the first time since 2001, there has been such a large increase in favorability among US Democrats toward the Palestinians over Israel.
Democrats responded to the question, “Who do you support given the current situation in the Middle East?” 49 percent of respondents responded in favor of Palestine.
Only 38 percent supported Israel. Citing the Gallup report, Middle East Eye reported that according to statistics, sympathy for the Palestinians among Democrats has increased by 11 percent over the past year.
At the same time, there is still a fondness for Israel among American Republicans. 78 percent of people support Israel. Only 11 percent support Palestine. Among US youth, 31 percent support Palestine. There has been an increase in this figure as well.
The findings of the Gallup agency, which conducted the survey, are that the wars and crises between Israel and Palestine in the last five years have caused such a big change in the American people.
News agencies report that this is the first time in the 22-year survey that Palestine has received such support. At the same time, it is estimated that at least 85 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army in 2023. This will include 16 children.
