American country singer Naomi Judd has died at the age of 76, her two daughters, Ashley and Winona Judd, confirmed in a statement.

Judd is best known as a country music duo with daughter, Wynonna, “The Gods”.

“We, the sisters, have experienced a tragedy,” Ashley and Winona said in a statement on Instagram, according to what was reported and quoted by the British “BA Media” news agency on Sunday.

“We lost our beautiful mother to a mental illness,” they said.

They added, “We are devastated. We are heartbroken, and we know, just as we love her, she was loved by her fans.”

Judd’s career spanned nearly three decades, receiving a Grammy for Country Song of the Year with Judd’s hit “Love Can Build a Bridge”.

Judd, who was born in Kentucky, was a nurse before forming her band with her daughter.

Between 1984 and 1991, the band “Gods” released 6 albums and an extended cylinder.
