Data from the tracking website “Flightaware” showed that more than 3,700 flights into or out of the United States of America were postponed, and more than 1,000 flights were canceled, as of Sunday followingnoon, due to bad weather.

As temperatures continue to drop in most parts of the US states, and more storms are expected in the coming days, airports across the country are witnessing thousands of delays and cancellations, for the third day in a row.

Despite the improvement in aircraft movement compared to the previous day, as yesterday, Saturday, nearly 8,000 flights were delayed and 1,400 were cancelled. The disastrous weekend witnessed more than 11,000 problems with flights, in which 2,300 flights were canceled, while nearly 9,000 were postponed. Another trip.

The most affected airports are still those in the northern United States, where the city of Denver, which is under a winter storm warning until Monday evening, saw the cancellation of 10% of incoming flights on Sunday. In Chicago, regarding a fifth of flights to and from O’Hare International Airport were delayed.

Also, more than 80% of flights from Buffalo Niagara International Airport have been canceled, as Buffalo, New York and surrounding areas prepare for several feet of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday’s severe weather alerts extend from Texas to Virginia and include more than 45 million people, including both Tennessee and Arkansas. The state of Texas, famous for its electricity network’s resistance to extreme temperatures, is preparing for severe cold waves in most of its parts, which has caused the cancellation of 10% of flights from Love Field Airport in Dallas, in addition to 16% of incoming flights.

The latest plane delays exacerbate an already difficult week for airlines and their passengers. Last week, more than 200 United and Alaska Airlines flights were canceled every day due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max 9 planes.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a grounding order following a piece of the plane’s fuselage exploded on an Alaska Airlines flight on January 5 with 177 people on board.

The accident left a large hole in the side of the plane, and the headrests were torn from the seats, while the plane was flying at an altitude of 16,000 feet, shortly following taking off from Portland, Oregon.

United and Alaska Airlines, the two largest US airlines that use Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft, are among the airlines that have canceled the most flights, according to the FlightAware website.

United was the second most affected airline following Southwest, which does not fly any Max 9 aircraft, with 244 cancellations due to bad weather. Alaska Airlines saw the third largest number of cancellations on Sunday, following canceling nearly a quarter of its flights.

The two airlines said last week that they had canceled all flights on their Max 9 aircraft until mid-January.
