Director and film writer Amer Salmeen is preparing to release his new movie “The Ghost”, which was postponed from last year, following it faced many challenges due to the Corona pandemic, and it is scheduled to be shown in local and Gulf cinemas in the coming months, and 7 main characters participate in the championship, most notably Abdullah Al-Junaibi. And Maryam Sultan, in addition to other actors, including 4 new faces, who made their first appearance in a cinematic work, and they are Kano Al-Kindi, and broadcaster Rehab Al-Muhairi, as well as an Algerian actor participating for the first time in an Emirati work.
Salmin explained that “The Ghost” is a long Emirati feature film, which is his second work, and carries the character of excitement, suspense and mystery, and tells a social story that revolves around people’s greed for inheritance, embodying a struggle between three families in breathtaking dramatic scenes, in an old house belonging to their ancestors to divide the inheritance. between them.
Salmeen said: “The film took a whole month to shoot in selected locations, including Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, especially in the studios of the Abu Dhabi Media Zone “twofour54”, as part of a huge production plan that focused on the quality and value of visual content, as a winning creative bet.
He added: “Local cinema witnessed a strong start during 2015 and 2016, and reached its peak in 2018, and the global epidemic prevented the continuation of this industry, which led to delays, postponements and suspensions of many productions, but this industry soon returned to positioning recently for prosperity and recovery towards Productions of the highest quality, the highest level and mass value compete in international festivals.
On the plan to market the film locally and in the Arab world, Salmeen said that the local film production borders the UAE and the Gulf region at the present time.
Salmin stressed that choosing the title of the movie “The Ghost” is an indication that its events take place in an old house in which the ghost appears to become the focus of its course and dramatic rhythm, explaining that the film’s identity will not be revealed except to those who watch it, as it is not related to bloody fear; Rather, the nature of the mystery associated with the characters and events.
He stated that difficulties accompanied the film industry during its production, pointing out that the most difficult challenge in the film industry is filming night scenes; That is why many filmmakers avoid it, “but we filmed a lot of action scenes at night in a winter atmosphere inside the corridors of a large and deserted house, and we used to spread the lights of large searchlights, in line with the contexts of the story and the scenario of the film, to ensure the creation of a state of terror, mystery and excitement.”
