2023-11-08 20:24:46

Deputies have begun work on amendments to limit the use of electric scooters. Chairman of the Transport Committee Evgeny Moskvichev told Interfax regarding this on Wednesday, November 8.

A special working group is developing the rules. There are already proposals to prohibit the use of electric scooters by persons under 18 years of age, to ride only in dedicated lanes for cyclists, to certify all devices, and to limit the speed, for example, to 6 or 12 km/h. According to Moskvichev, deputies will study the issue of speed and its consequences in a collision from a medical and scientific point of view.

The chairman of the committee noted that the working group plans to present interim decisions by the end of the year.

Earlier, the Moscow traffic police proposed banning minors from riding electric scooters, as well as limiting speed to 20 km/h throughout the capital. St. Petersburg deputies made approximately the same appeal.
