Thiruvananthapuram: Amendment to the KSRTC order that all super class services will be stopped at places requested by women, senior citizens and persons with disabilities from 8 pm to 6 am. According to a press release issued by KSRTC, the company has decided to roll out the service only on all categories of services from Superfast to below, taking into account the inconvenience and complaints of passengers on less than 200 long distance services.
The decision was taken following complaints that it was practically difficult to implement the proposal on Super Class long-distance multi-axle AC, Super Deluxe and Super Express buses, and that it was extremely inconvenient for long-distance commuters traveling for hours. The move comes as long-distance travelers who travel more than 14 hours find it difficult to stop except for occasional stops.
Such super class buses make up less than 5 per cent of the total buses. The KSRTC MD said in a press release that in the remaining 95% of the buses, women, senior citizens and persons with disabilities will stop at the required places between 8 pm and 6 am. KSRTC has clarified that the order to stop at night does not apply to buses above the super fast range.
