Royal decree amending the Saudi Citizenship Act. The new change will allow more foreigners to obtain citizenship. The core change was made by amending the existing Articles 8 and 9 of the Citizenship Act. (Amendment to Saudi Citizenship Act).

According to the new amendment, a child born within the country of a foreign father and a Saudi mother will be granted Saudi citizenship subject to conditions. According to the amendment in Article No. 9, Saudi Arabian citizenship can also be granted to foreigners who meet special conditions.

The condition states that the applicant must have Iqama in Saudi Arabia and the applicant must have been in Saudi Arabia for a period of not less than 10 consecutive years. Those who have been sentenced to imprisonment for more than six months for any crime or those with bad conduct are not eligible for citizenship.
