Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–The White House has made an amendment to its official record regarding US President Joe Biden’s statement regarding what he said to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during his visit to the Kingdom, regarding the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
In response to a question regarding the Saudi crown prince’s response to his comments regarding Khashoggi, Biden said at a press conference: “He said he was not personally responsible for it, but I indicated that I thought he was responsible, and he said he personally was not responsible for it and took action.” once morest those responsible.
The White House had quoted on its website what Biden had said inaccurately in the president’s speech record and attributed to him as saying, “I indicated that he was probably responsible,” before the White House corrected the statement to “I indicated that I believed he was responsible.”

And the Saudi newspaper, “Okaz”, considered that the White House “backtracked” and that the amendment “was in line with the Saudi side’s narrative on the lips of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir.”
