He returns as the literary re-entry, the new Amélie Nothomb. The most widely read novelist in France has accustomed her readership to her elegant and spirited pen, where certain sentences smack like aphorisms, and where the love of language mixes with extravagant remarks, but also, as in “Psychopompe”, with disarming sincerity. We believe that she is exaggerating, that she is inventing, because this enemy of “castrating” classifications between genres claims the banner of the novel, from which she takes up the Stendhalian definition of a mirror walked along the path. But “it’s all true,” she says.
