AMD Zen 5 CPUs to be designed from the ground up with new higher performance “Ladder” L3 and L2 cache

AMD has already confirmed that it will launch the Zen 5 architecture for its processors only in 2024, but today the YouTube channel AdoredTV indicated some changes that AMD should make to its chips. According to him, the new processors must have a completely renewed cache system with an increase in the L2 cache per core.

According to AdoredTV, the first prototypes of Zen 5 “Nirvana” processors have already been produced in laboratories. These new processors must have a new 32MB shared L3 cache system called “Ladder”.

This change should allow for latency between cores compared to the current design. In addition, AMD is expected to integrate a boost in L2 cache of 2MB and 3MB per core, which can make them two or even three times more powerful than the 1MB cache of current Zen 4 processors.

According to WCCFTech, IPC gains might be 4% at L2 and up to 7% at L3 on multiple cores, but these are just estimates as we still need more confirmations on these specs.

Rumors aside, AMD will introduce the Zen 5 architecture in three variants: Zen 5, Zen 5 V-Cache and Zen 5C, all with chips designed from the ground up to ensure high performance and energy efficiency, as well as enhanced support for applications with artificial intelligence and machine learning.
