AMD has approved impressive six-figure bonuses for several top managers – they will receive at least the company’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su (Lisa Su) and four vice presidents. Meanwhile, at Intel, the situation is exactly the opposite: the company is cutting salaries, and paying bonuses is suspended.
Dr. Su received the highest award for good work with a bonus of $918,800. applicationwill receive bonuses ranging from $300,000 to $375,000. Among them is Mark Papermaster, CTO and Senior Vice President of Technology and Engineering.
Intel, on the other hand, has to overcome serious financial difficulties, which were highlighted by the latest quarterly report. As a result, middle and senior management is facing a pay cut of 5-15%, and the head of the company, Pat Gelsinger, is facing a 25% cut. AMD and Intel are fighting for the same markets, but the companies’ structures and activities are very different: Intel has to support its semiconductor manufacturing business. With a huge drop in revenue, the company still plans to invest $40 billion in new plants in Arizona and Ohio, and emergency measures are really needed. Finally, we have to reckon with negative macroeconomic factors for the company, such as the Ukrainian events and the remnants of the pandemic effects.
AMD, following abandoning its own production, has become much more agile and light – it does not need to support this expensive and highly competitive business. The company chose this model, realizing that with the advent of the boom, its contractors will earn more, and the prices for their services will rise.
