AMD Announces Launch of 7nm Automotive Chips at CES 2024: Versal Edge and Ryzen V2000A Series

AMD announced that it will launch two 7nm process automotive chips at CES 2024, including the Versal Edge It provides autonomous driving and parking for the new generation of advanced automotive systems; while the Ryzen V2000A series mainly focuses on infotainment consoles, digital instruments and passenger display screens.

Automotive industry system partners participating in CES include BlackBerry, Cognata, ECARX, Hesai, Luxoft, QNX, QT, Robosense, Seyond, Tanway, Visteon and XYLON.

According to AMD, the Versal Edge automotive-grade self-adaptive SoC introduces an advanced AI engine to help control a new generation of advanced automotive systems and applications. It can be used to control forward-looking cameras, in-cabin monitoring, laser radar (LiDAR), 4D radar, Panoramic view, automatic parking and automatic driving functions. The Versal AI Edge automotive-grade self-adaptive SoC is AMD’s first automotive-certified 7nm chip, which can significantly improve vehicle safety.

Ryzen V2000A series chips are mainly responsible for next-generation automotive digital cockpits such as infotainment consoles, digital instruments and passenger displays. The AMD Ryzen V2000A series is the first automotive-qualified x86 processor to deliver the same entertainment experience as a PC in the car.
