AMBUSH® Releases Pre-Spring 2023 Collection | HYPEBEAST

Creative Director Yoon Ahn has called Tokyo home for two decades, and has seen the city’s people freely mix and experiment with styling, constantly reinventing the wheel. AMBUSH® has created a sophisticated and diverse collection this season that revisits the brand’s iconic pieces and explores new designs.

The Cruise 2023 collection is a fashion mixtape presented by AMBUSH®, showcasing what the designer sees and hears on the streets of the brand’s headquarters. Most looks are unisex, with a looser fit than usual. Sports coats and sweatpants have a relaxed fit, as do nylon wide-leg pants and oversized shirts. The bat-sleeve mechanic’s shirt features an AMBUSH® logo in a more workwear-oriented silhouette that contrasts with a range of sporty mix-and-match denim pieces. Biker jackets in classic motorcycle silhouettes are reimagined in denim, zip-up jackets in bizarre color combinations, and jeans in new styles in nylon panels. Additionally, the AMBUSH® kimono jacket and the brand’s signature corset are reimagined in denim.

Bowling balls and long-sleeved shirts feature bright nostalgic graphics inspired by cult club nights and record labels, paying homage to the rave and house culture that made Shibuya a favorite for rave and house lovers Pilgrimage center. Unisex cargo pants and down jackets accentuate the utilitarian rave style, while blazers and coats are formal yet still oozing ’90s style. These pieces can be worn with blazer shorts, miniskirts or stretch pants with a slight flare at the ankle (a continuation of last season), and Yoon is happy to play with silhouettes. There are also cropped and adjustable side jackets, as well as the iconic kimono-cut jacket, pushing the boundaries of clothing mix and matching, one of the key themes of the new collection.
