The charisma and freshness of Lali Esposito knows no borders and, once once more, took advantage of an interview on Spanish television to explain (and demonstrate) the ritual of a “traveling fernet” in full prime time, just as he did in February with mate.
Invited to “El Hormiguero”, the night program hosted by Pablo Motos on Antena 3, the Argentine singer and actress gave an intensive course on the fernet and how “a traveler” prepares.
At the beginning of the interview, the production approached Lali the whole “kit” to prepare a “traveler” fernet. There the Argentine began to detail how the drink is served.
“This is what is called the traveler. In Argentina there is a lot of joda, a lot of nightlife, a lot of bowling. Sometimes, when you’re with your friends and it’s time to finish the preview and go out dancing what is known as a traveler is put together, which is a community drink, ”explained the actress.
Lali continued: “Just as in mate, which we share among all, everyone drinks from the traveler. Like when you go from that house to the bowling alley, you are not going to take a glass cup, you grab a plastic bottle that cuts it in half…”.
“Some ask, why don’t they take a thermal glass and I answer them, what do I do with the glass later?”, he said, and then cut an empty plastic bottle in half and then burned the edges of the bottom half of the bottle with a lighter so that it does not cut the lips.
What followed was to prepare the fernet with cola. “This is an Italian drink”, said Lali and the driver retorted: “Isn’t she even Argentine?”.
“It is not Argentine, but it is Argentine. As a good Argentine, I take over things that are not mine. This is mine. I don’t care, an Argentine did it for me”, he said, and then he opened the bottle and made the driver taste a pure drink from the spout of the bottle of fernet.
The singer then explained that in Italy it is consumed as a digestive drink, pure and in small quantities, but that in Argentina it is mixed with a cola drink, in different proportions. “It can be 70/30 or 80/20, depending on the taste of each person”.
After preparing the fernet in the cut bottle, Lali made Motos try the drink. “This is the chalice and I bless you with the most Argentine drink in history. I Lali, an Argentine popstar, bless you Pablo Motos, king of Spanish television, with this drink”.
The first reaction of the driver following trying the drink was not to his liking and he asked himself: “What happens to the Argentines? It’s like drinking a coke and sucking on a piece of furniture”.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with you Pablo. For me it is barbaric. This is how you begin to share with the group. If you take a couple, you don’t remember your home address. This is culture”, the Argentine closed while she drank from the “traveler”.
