Amazon has launched a lawsuit once morest more than 11,000 people linked to Facebook chat groups who sell or buy fake reviews of products sold on the giant e-commerce platform.

Among the most requested fake products is the “Verified Reviews by Amazon” logo, which the platform gives to reviews written by users who have confirmed their purchase of the product.
The judicial document seen by Agence France-Presse indicated that Internet users who agree to post fake opinions in their personal name receive money or get back the money they paid for purchases.
Amazon spoke in particular regarding a group that included at a certain stage 43,000 members.
In response to AFP’s questions, Facebook, which is not directly targeted by the judicial process, indicated that it had pulled from its network “more” of the groups mentioned in the lawsuit brought by Amazon.
A Facebook spokeswoman said: “Groups that use or encourage the posting of fake reviews violate our rules and will be banned” from the network.
“We are cooperating with Amazon on this matter and will continue to work with the sector to address the problem of spam and false opinions,” she added.
