Brazilian Mauricio Takeda told how he was deceived by the seller of video cards on Amazon. His story was brought by the Wccftech portal.
Takeda, having received a package with an ordered NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, immediately suspected something was wrong when he estimated it by weight. He asked his wife to record an unboxing video. In the process of opening the box, it turned out that instead of a video card, there was a container filled with sand inside. Takeda paid BRL 14,500 for the package, which is regarding $2,600 at the exchange rate at the time of publication.
This is not the first time that sellers on Amazon have deceived the buyer by sending him either less powerful models or something else instead of expensive video cards. However, most of them were recorded at the height of the deficit at the end of 2020 and until the beginning of 2022, which was caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the rise in the value of cryptocurrencies. Since the beginning of the summer, Bitcoin and other digital assets have fallen significantly in price, which led to a sharp decrease in the prices of video cards both from retailers and in the secondary market.
