Amazon seeks to hire 250,000 employees for the Christmas season in the United States. We tell you the details.
Amazon announced this Thursday its intention to hire 250,000 workers in the United States to face the high demand expected during the Christmas season.
The new employees will work both full-time and part-time, with many working on a temporary basis in the company’s transportation and distribution areas.
Significant investment in your workforce
The company plans to invest $2.2 billion in additional compensation for logistics and transportation employees, raising the average salary to more than $29 per hour, said Sandy Gordon, vice president of Global Operations and Employee Experience. Amazon highlighted that all temporary workers will earn a minimum wage of $18 per hour and will have access to benefits from the first day of work.
Educational benefits and opportunities
Among the benefits offered by Amazon include educational programs through initiatives such as “Career Choice,” in which the company advances the cost of tuition for its employees to obtain college degrees or professional certificates.
In addition, full-time workers will have access to medical, dental and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) pension account.
On the other hand, Amazon also offers up to 20 weeks of paid maternity or paternity leave for biological parents and six weeks for adoptive parents who meet certain requirements.
Additional support for your employees
The company has implemented a program called “Resources for Living,” which offers mental health services and financial assistance to employees and their families.
Additionally, temporary workers who decide to stay with the company long-term can see a 15% salary increase during the first three years of their contract.
Preparations for a season with high sales volume
With this massive hiring, Amazon follows in the footsteps of other retail giants, such as Target, which has also increased its staff to face the Christmas season.
Internet sales in the United States are expected to grow by 8.4% during this time, reaching an estimated total of $240 billion, according to data from Adobe.
Amazon has indicated that nearly a third of employees who have worked in past holiday seasons return year after year, underscoring the demand and appeal of these jobs during peak e-commerce months.
