Amazon Music Unlimited saw a subscription price increase in Japan next month. According to the digitalmusicnews website, subscribing to the Amazon Music Unlimited streaming service increased the amount charged for the individual plan (not to be confused with Amazon Prime Music). This decision to change the price comes shortly following the increase in Apple Music and Deezer plans, which currently cost R$ 21.90 and R$ 22.90, respectively.
According to Tokyo’s AV Watch, Amazon Music Unlimited will have a change to its individual plan on February 21st. Amazon formally communicated on its support page in the US and the United Kingdom (England) regarding the change in the amounts charged for the individual and student plan of its streaming service.
How much was the value of Amazon Music Unlimited?
AV Watch says that Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers will be charged approximately $13 (¥1,680) per month for the individual plan. Previously, it charged around US$11.50 (¥1,480). For reference, in Japan Amazon Prime costs $3.88 (¥500) per month.
On January 21, Amazon Music Unlimited got a $1/£1 US and UK (England) subscription boost. The information was published on Amazon’s support page, where it says that the individual plan will go from US$ 9.99 to US$ 10.99 per month.
What is happening to the price of subscriptions to streaming services?
Amazon Music Unlimited is following the trend of rising subscription prices for music streaming services. Apple Music and Deezer, which offer lossless music streaming, have already increased the amount charged for the plans offered. Spotify has plans to offer a new subscription plan that features lossless audio files, but the company has yet to say when it would actually roll out the feature to the general public.
