Jakarta (ANTARA) – Amazon on Monday (4/11) announced the presence of X-Ray Recaps, a new generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based feature on Prime Video that can summarize entire seasons, single episodes, or parts of broadcast episodes.
As quoted in the broadcast TechCrunch on Monday (4/11), the company confirmed the implementation of a security system to prevent AI from producing spoiler so that viewers can enjoy their favorite series without worrying about being exposed to unwanted information.
Prime Video’s newest feature is an expansion of the existing X-Ray feature, which displays information such as details about the cast and other trivia when the user pauses the show.
To use X-Ray Recaps, users can visit a TV show’s details page, where a new replay icon allows users to choose from three options, namely a recap of the current episode, a recap of the entire season so far, or a recap of previous seasons.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – In a significant advancement for its streaming service, Amazon unveiled on Monday (4/11) the innovative X-Ray Recaps feature on Prime Video, utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI) to efficiently summarize entire seasons, individual episodes, or segments of televised shows.
As reported by TechCrunch on the same day, Amazon emphasized its commitment to user experience by incorporating a robust security system designed to block AI-generated spoilers, ensuring that viewers can revel in their favorite series without the anxiety of encountering unwelcome plot revelations.
The newly introduced X-Ray Recaps feature builds upon the existing X-Ray tool, which enriches the viewing experience by offering insights like cast details and trivia during momentary pauses in shows.
To activate X-Ray Recaps, users are directed to a TV show’s details page, where a newly integrated replay icon enables them to select from three distinct options: a recap of the current episode, a summary of the ongoing season, or an overview of previous seasons.
X-Ray Recaps is presently in beta and will be initially accessible to Fire TV customers in the United States. This feature will enhance the viewing experience for original titles produced by MGM Studios available on Amazon Prime, including popular series such as “Daisy Jones & the Six,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Wheel of Time,” and “The Boys” at its launch.
The rollout of the X-Ray Recaps feature is planned to expand to additional devices by the end of the year, broadening its reach to a wider audience.
According to Amazon’s official blog, the functionality of this feature rests on a sophisticated blend of custom AI models developed using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker, which meticulously analyze videos, subtitles, and dialogues to extract and present crucial events, dialogues, and noteworthy information.
Amazon highlights that the X-Ray Recaps feature is tailored specifically to coincide with the precise moments users are engaged with, whether they have recently immersed themselves in a new episode, are midway through an entire season, or are revisiting a beloved yet forgotten series.
The introduction of Prime Video’s X-Ray Recaps comes on the heels of Google TV’s announcement of similar AI-driven summary tools, which generate concise synopses of films and television programs.
Existing X-Ray function, which provides viewers with cast details and trivia when shows are paused.
