A rare event will occur at midday: 99% of the world’s population will be under the sun at the same time.

It is an exceptional event that will take place this Friday, July 8th. Around 1:15 p.m. French time, 99% of the earth’s population will receive sunlight.

According to the website EarthSky“Almost all of the most populated areas of the world will receive some sunshine at the time in question. Among them are North America, South America, Europe, Africa and most of the world. ‘Asia.”

At the same time, “7.7 billion people – regarding 99% of us – will be on the sunlit side of the planet. More than 6.4 billion of them will be in the daytime, while more than 1.2 billion people will experience twilight,” the scientists explain.

Absolute black sky

However, some inhabitants of our planet will not literally receive sunlight. Indeed some will face a sky “twilight of absolute blackness.”

“A few hundred million people on the supposedly sunny side of the Earth will think it’s nighttime,” the site explains.

“256.8 million people, or regarding 3% of the world’s population, are so far behind the curve that no sunlight will be visible,” the scientists report.
