The 36-year-old actress won the Miniseries Lead Actress award for her portrayal of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in “The Dropout” at the ceremony on Monday, September 12.
She looked stunned as her name was spoken in front of Toni Collette (‘The Staircase’), Julia Garner (‘Inventing Anna’), Lily James (‘Pam and Tommy’), Sarah Paulson (‘Impeachment: American Crime Story ‘) and Margaret Qualley (‘Maid’).
After she was announced as the winner, she exclaimed “Oh my god” and hugged her husband, Thomas Sadoski, before he escorted her onto the stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
She said: “It’s a very nice feeling.”
After thanking the cast, crew and loved ones, she spoke regarding working on the show: “It was very hard, but it was the best time of my life.”
Ahead of her win, Amanda admitted on the red carpet that playing a “real person with a real story” was a real challenge.
She told ‘Live With E!’ host Loni Love: “I needed to create my own boundaries because she’s a real person with a real story. We just did a version of her.
“And I had to keep a distance and remember that this is a different version of the real Elizabeth Holmes.
“It’s tough. There’s a lot of iconic things regarding him that we captured, but at the end of the day, it’s our version. And audiences got to follow suit.”
Amanda was even very proud to have been nominated for her work on the show.
She said, “It’s the most exciting thing. How can you not love people paying attention to you and giving you positive feedback?
“We don’t do this for that, but when we get it, it’s the icing on the cake of a really good job.”
