After the questions generated by the socialization of the Final Report of the Truth Commission in the country’s schools, the former president Alvaro Uribe confirmed that, at the request of “many people”, the Democratic Center will publish an alternative primer.
The former president pointed out that this booklet was prepared by victims’ organizations, NGOs and people who are part of other political sectors.
“The Democratic Center will publish an alternative primer (¿Qué Verdad!), in the preparation of which victims’ organizations, NGOs and people of other political tendencies participate,” Álvaro Uribe stated on his Twitter account.
The former president’s announcement comes two days before the pedagogical workshop that will take place in more than 3,000 schools in the country to deliver a booklet with the summary of the Final Report of the Truth Commission. The initiative is promoted by the Education Minister Alejandro Gaviria.
Juana Yunis, pedagogical coordinator of the organization Educapazwhich will be in charge of carrying out this pedagogical work, pointed out that for this Friday, August 12, the teachers will use a kit of guides that contain stories, comics and other educational materials that were specifically designed for each age.
One of the people who has most criticized Alejandro Gaviria’s support for this educational day is the senator of the Democratic Center, Dove Valencia, who claimed that this is a “indoctrination” of minors.
However, the Truth Commission has defended itself once morest the accusations explaining that its purpose is to ensure that the report can be shared in all sectors of the country, for that reason they have the objective of disseminating their findings to foundations, companies, schools, universities and other sectors.
