The Sevillian Alvaro de Luna arrived in Buenos Aires to present this week his last album One, at The Roxy Live (Niceto Vega, 5542, CABA). But first, as a reunion with the Argentine public, he opened the shows of Benjamin Amadeo at Vorterix and shared with him a couple of songs at the Primavera Sound presentation last weekend: “The Argentine public is treating me better than I imagined.” -says the Spanish singer-songwriter full of happiness-. I have dreamed a lot regarding the reunion and expectations were high because the first visit last year was incredible because The people received us with great affection and sang with us. This year we were lucky that we came to open the show at Benja and he invited us to sing with him at Primavera, and the truth is that the reception, that first contact and impressions, was super good. We feel at home. And we are very new because we have come very few times, but the people make you feel very comfortable.”
Precisely, the central thing regarding this visit is the show that will give on November 30 at 8 p.m., where he will write the songs for his latest musical project that marks a significant point in his artistic career, since he assures that it is the first album with which he feels like himself. “I decided to do a different show for each occasion and in Spain I have prepared this one especially for Latin America, it will be acoustic because it is more enjoyable, but we have given it a spin. It will not be completely acoustic but we will have a little instrumentation to accompany it. The good thing is that I came with two musicians from my band who are family and make the show more beautiful. I have been touring with them for a long time and that they are in this part of the process is something very significant; I love it. We understand each other only with our looks, it is the most beautiful when you generate that bond and that connection; Everything flows and you stop worrying. Now the only thing I worry regarding is not forgetting the songs and enjoying myself. Because that is transmitted to the people.”
Live Profile: Could it be said that your leitmotiv is to be honest?
Alvaro de Luna: Yes. At least that’s what I’m trying to do. I am super honest and I like to be. I also like that people understand that we are artists and that we are often too idealized. I have the privilege and luck of being an artist but I am also closer to reality than they might imagine. In fact, this album, Uno, covers different moments in my life, different situations and different ways of being. For example there is the Rockstar song, what hspeaks a moment of anxiety and loss of self because you are going through a bad time and, instead of facing it, you dedicate yourself to going out and being with people simply to not think regarding the reality that you have with you. Giving visibility to these types of things normalizes and can help people who find themselves in a similar situation. I think one of the nicest things that has happened to me and continues to happen to me is when a fan tells me. “Hey, you helped me get out of a difficult moment.” o “I have celebrated the wedding dance with your song.” It’s strong, in the end you are in super important moments in the lives of people you don’t even know. You are part of it unconsciously and it’s lovely.
VP: How was the collaboration with Raydenwho announced his retirement this year?
AdL: It’s curious because we are good friends but I was his fan since I was a teenager. We met because we are on the same label and we met at many events. We had a good connection and I remember that we met to compose this song that I recorded on my last album (Without Mask). It was a long time ago because it is the first song we wrote together, later we did many more but I wanted this one to be in my project. It’s nice because the circle was closed in a super beautiful way. When I met him it was like when a fan meets his favorite artist and I was lucky enough to work with and I am honored that it is the last song of his career (for now) that was published by him and I am very excited .
And the charming Alvaro says goodbye to the talk, emphasizing a quality of the Argentine publicthe one who says he has “charisma. I think it has to do with football fans. Here there is a fanaticism so strong that suddenly You hear people singing so intensely Just thinking regarding it makes my skin crawl. “It’s super beautiful.”
Great opportunity to hear his songs live once more and sing them with him. Find more information regarding tickets here.
