A replacement for the canceled New Year’s fireworks was found in the form of firecrackers and sparklers. This idea was put forward by Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs.
“If you really want to give yourself brightness, and for some it depends on fireworks, then they can be replaced with firecrackers, sparklers and a large number of garlands,” Lenta.ru reports Bessarab’s words. She noted that the cancellation of fireworks is due to the need to ensure the safety of people. Bessarab also emphasized that safety should be a priority, and is confident that Russians will be able to survive the holiday without fireworks, maintaining joy and a festive mood.
In more than 20 regions of Russia, New Year’s fireworks were canceled due to a special military operation in Ukraine. Regional authorities decided to save budget funds and use them to help participants in the special operation and buy gifts for their children. The launch of festive fireworks in Moscow for the New Year and Christmas is also cancelled, reports TV channel 360.
