Also replacement of Boeing 777: El Al wants to replace Boeing 777 – and apparently plans with 737 Max

The Israeli national airline would like to further rejuvenate its fleet. To do this, she not only wants to replace her Boeing 777, but also her Boeing 737. The choice is said to have fallen in favor of the 737 Max.

El Al has significantly rejuvenated its aircraft fleet in recent years. To do this, the Israeli national airline not only procured Boeing 787s also fleet their Boeing 747 and your Boeing 767 out. With an average age of less than twelve years, the fleet is now quite young once more.

Two models, however, push the cut upwards. On average, the Boeing 737s are now almost 18 years old, with some examples already being almost 24 years old. The Boeing 777-200 have an average lifespan of 19 years. But El Al is also planning a rejuvenation there.

Decision on Boeing 777 will be made in 2023

As the airline’s management announced a few weeks ago when announcing the results for the second quarter, the Boeing 777-200, in which El Al still offers first class, will be replaced. The airline is currently looking at its options. However, they are not really diverse.

El Al is a Boeing-only operator, which is also due to the close ties between Israel and the United States. Therefore, only the Boeing 777X and other Dreamliners – in addition to the 787-8 and 787-9 that are already in operation, at most the 787-10 – are available. The decision will be made in 2023, according to El Al.

Boeing 737 Max ab 2024

El Al also wants the Boeing 737-800, according to a report by Aviationews substitute. The airline will rely on the 737 Max 8. The first copies are to be included in the fleet as early as 2024. The report does not reveal the number involved. The airline currently operates 16 Boeing 737-800 and eight much younger 737-900 ER.
