2023-09-27 11:49:19

None from a woman yet, but some from abroad and from people who are native English speakers. In the presidential conference on October 13th, the further timeline and the further procedure will be defined, said ÖSV General Secretary Christian Scherer at a media event in Vienna in response to an APA request.

“The idea is that a sports director should be on board in the first quarter of 2024 in order to be able to conduct background discussions. In order to be able to form his team accordingly and get an idea for the 24/25 season, which, according to our statutes, begins on May 1st “to be able to do that,” explained Scherer. “The new structure as such will come into force with the 24/25 season.” Scherer said he was surprised by the applications from “native English speakers”. “But that also shows what charisma and reputation this advertised position has. I still believe that we are an Austrian sports association, and if we have suitable candidates from Austria and the surrounding area, that is certainly advantageous.”

Applications from the ÖSV possible

Applications from the ÖSV are of course possible. “There are advantages if you know the system as such. But of course there are also advantages if you get new perspectives from outsiders. Someone who understands what a sports association is like. We are open to all possibilities and look forward to receiving interesting applications. ” A lot is required, the tasks range from “responsibility for sporting achievements and successes”, to “development and implementation of a long-term sports strategy” to “management of cooperation with the regional associations”, “budget planning and responsibility for the area of high-performance sports” and ” Responsible for the personnel management of high-performance sports personnel in cooperation with the Secretary General”.

“Of course it’s regarding management functions, he is supposed to form the operational management body of the association together with the general secretary. He should have an affinity for sport. It is of course also good, as a former athlete, to understand processes in sport. Completed coaching training would also be an advantage “It should be a person who has both management and budget responsibility, but also know-how in sports operations,” explained Scherer, who expects that there will ultimately be “some good candidates.” “The selection will be limited to four to five people, from which we will then find the right person in further discussions.”
