Starting August 1, the pensions of many Russians will be indexed. The increased amount will be provided to seniors who are still officially working.
According to statistics from the Russian Social Foundation, there are 7.85 million officially working pensioners in Russia, accounting for regarding 20% of the total number of pensioners. The average pension of such citizens is 17,600 rubles, which is significantly lower than the average pension of non-workers, which is 23,450 rubles.
Due to the freeze, the fixed component of work pensioners’ pensions has not been indexed since 2016. However, the size of their pensions has increased over the years due to the cumulative personal pension factor of employer contributions in the previous year. In accordance with the law, the SFR automatically recalculates the pension insurance component on August 1 of each year without the need for pensioners to apply. The maximum possible increase cannot exceed three pension factors per year, even if the person’s income is higher. The cost of a pension coefficient in 2024 is 133.05 rubles, so the maximum possible increase is 399.15 rubles.
