Expected firmly, the Nothing phone (2) would have already been certified on the Indian market where it might therefore be announced in the coming weeks.
While Nothing’s first smartphone, the Nothing phone (1), was launched in the summer of 2022, and the manufacturer has already confirmed that it is working on a new generation of smartphone with a Nothing phone (2) more positioned in the segment high-end, it seems that the smartphone is ready for commercialization.
Indeed, as reported by the site Android Central, the British manufacturer already seems to have had its Nothing phone (2) certified on the Indian market. The phone appears on the website of the BIS, the Indian authority in charge of telecommunications certification, under the name “Nothing AIN065”. Remember that the Nothing phone (1) has the model number “A063”. A name close enough that one can imagine that the device certified by the Indian Bureau of Standards is indeed the Nothing phone (2).
If this certification does not tell us any new information regarding the characteristics of the Nothing phone (2), it nevertheless allows us to know that the phone might be marketed in the very near future. Traditionally, certification by regulatory authorities is one of the last steps before a device is marketed, before its announcement is made and at the same time as the design of promotional elements. We can therefore expect an announcement in the next few months, or even the next few weeks.
A higher-end smartphone
Remember that, unlike the manufacturer’s first smartphone, the Nothing phone (2) should be a high-end smartphone. Since its confirmation at the end of January, we have learned that the smartphone will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip or the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from Qualcomm, that it will benefit from a 5000 mAh battery and a a 120 Hz Oled screen with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM.
It remains to be seen at what price the smartphone will be marketed and when it will be launched. Moreover, Nothing having distinguished itself since its inception by original design choices focusing on transparency, we still do not know what the Nothing phone (2) will look like. As a reminder, the Nothing phone (1) was launched in July 2022. The Nothing phone (2) is expected to be marketed during the third quarter of 2023, i.e. from the month of July.
