The freeride season has not yet started as the calendar is already undergoing changes. Kicking Horse Golden, which was to host the first stage of the Freeride World Tour at the end of January, has been forced to postpone the event for a month. There is a severe lack of snow in the British Columbia resort.
“The start of winter has been difficult at Kicking Horse, not only due to less than normal snowfall, but also due to colder than usual temperatures,” says Mike Rubenstein, the manager of the Canadian station. “The combination of these factors, along with an episode of significant wind earlier in the season, meant that the weather conditions were very difficult.”
For once, World Champion Maxime Chabloz, who won last year at Kicking Horse Golden, and his powder snow partners will travel to Canada a month later, from February 17 to 22, 2023. The season will start in Baqueira Beret in Spain from January 28th.
