ALPLA HC Hard Bids Farewell to Managing Director Markus Köberle After 7.5 Years

After seven and a half years, Markus Köberle is leaving ALPLA HC Hard as managing director and board member at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Markus Köberle’s path led him to ALPLA HC Hard in March 2017, where he took on the leading role in the youth and sponsorship areas in the office. At the start of the 2020/21 season and following the departure of Alexander Kathrein (Managing Director of Marketing and Organization), he was responsible for the entire management of the club, with a focus on sponsorship and the associated development and maintenance of the extensive partner network.

In his first year as general manager of the club, the COVID-19 pandemic created a completely new and unprecedented situation, which Markus Köberle courageously mastered despite constantly changing measures and countless requirements, especially in the area of ​​top-class sport, and led the club through successfully led to this challenging time.

In his work, Markus Köberle was always committed to the further development and professionalization of the ALPLA HC Hard and was also dedicated to the implementation of new, innovative ideas. One of the milestones of his work is the installation of a new high-resolution LED video wall, which created a new multimedia experience in the Devil’s Arena. In the area of ​​administration, membership management was switched to Sportmember, an app with which the communication, planning and administration of all club members can be managed easily, quickly and in a targeted manner at a glance. Köberle’s impulses also set the course for a successful future in the ticketing area – the collaboration with the global market leader Ticketmaster began at the start of the 2022/23 season. The latest project was to put the first A1 speed measurement system, a throwing speed measurement display, into operation in the sports hall at the lake. This is the first measuring system of this type in a handball hall in Austria, making the ALPLA HC Hard national a pioneer in this field.

During his time at ALPLA HC Hard, a number of sporting highlights were celebrated together: Austrian championship title (2021, 2017), ÖHB Cup victory (2023, 2018), SUPERCUP victory (2023, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2017). In the 2021/22 season, ALPLA HC Hard hosted the ÖHB Cup Final Four tournament in the sports hall by the lake and gave all handball fans a packed weekend full of concentrated passion. In the 2022/23 season, ALPLA HC Hard reached the EHF European League group stage for the first time in the club’s history following a flawlessly played qualifying round – four wins from four games in the two qualifying rounds 1 and 2. Playing on the international stage and competing once morest the top names in European handball was a unique and unforgettable journey.

Until Markus Köberle ends his employment relationship on June 30, 2024, he will carry out his operational tasks at the club with great commitment, as usual.
