At the World Para-Alpine Skiing Championships in Spain, Théo Gmür won the silver medal in giant. The Valaisan, who was in the lead following the 1st round, fell back a rank during the 2nd round. It was Frenchman Arthur Bauchet who won gold.
Deprived of medals since the start of his Worlds, Théo Gmür managed to clinch a superb 2nd place in his favorite discipline. The Valaisain was also relieved to have finally won a medal at these World Championships: “I was far from my expectations in the sprint races and today I had a really good first run.“Not without all the same having a touch of regret:”During the 2nd race, I put too much pressure on myself to keep 1st place.e.”
And despite this medal, Théo Gmür still draws a mixed assessment of these World Championships: “I was expecting more than a medal, because I won two at the last World Championships, but on the other hand, I’m also satisfied with my performance in the giant slalom.“
For their part, Robin Cuche, who was one of the favourites, was eliminated in the first heat on a fall, while the Schwytzer Thomas Pfyl was ranked 16th.
