In extremely difficult conditions, the Swiss missed the second round of the World Cup slalom in Palisades Tahoe, California on Sunday. A slalom that the Greek AJ Ginnis, just silver medalist at the Méribel-Courchevel Worlds, thought he had won. But following long minutes of image analysis, he was disqualified for having straddled a door. Victory went to Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen.

Daniel Yule, Loïc Meillar and Ramon Zenhäusern, they had managed to rank in the top 10 following the first round, but on a track that deteriorated over the riders, the three Valaisans missed their second round.

In the end, it was Zenhäusern who resisted the best. Ninth in the first heat, he set the 15th time on the second track to rank seventh. Loïc Meillard was sixth following the first descent. But with a 27th time in the second moto, he mightn’t do better than 22nd.

It was even harder for Daniel Yule. Second before starting a second time between the poles, the rider from Martigny, who might take the lead in the general classification of the slalom World Cup in the event of victory, completely missed his run (28th time) and finished only 25th.

On the podium, behind Steen Olsen, who won his first World Cup victory, another Norwegian finished second, Timon Haugan, and third place went to Bulgarian Alexander Popov, 25th in the first heat, for whom it was is a first, and to Frenchman Clément Noël.
