Alpine skiing: Robin Cuche wins silver in combined – rts.ch

The day following his silver medal in super-G, Robin Cuche did it once more. The Neuchâtelois took 2nd place in the combined World Para Ski Championships in Espot. The 24-year-old skier was only beaten by French favorite Arthur Bauchet.

Cuche was in the lead following the combined downhill, but he was beaten by Bauchet at the end of the slalom run. “It is a great joy. I knew I had no chance once morest Arthur in slalom, that’s why I’m very happy with this silver medal“, he said. The Neuchâtelois had already won silver in the combined at the Tarvisio Worlds in 2017.

The speed specialist is looking forward to tomorrow’s downhill on Wednesday: “Since the start of the WC, I’ve been looking forward to the descent. It’s my favorite discipline and I naturally hope to win a medal.. ” Théo Gmür will also be at the start of the descent on Wednesday. The Valaisan has given up the combined.

For the Schwytzer Thomas Pfyl, the podium remained out of reach with four seconds behind Robin Cuche in the 1st moto and a difficult race in the 2nd moto. He ranks 12th.
