Phenomenal during the 1st round, Marco Odermatt finally had some difficulties to afford the second giant World Cup in Alta Badia. He was only ahead of the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen by 0”20. Loïc Meillard took 4th place at 1”32.
Starting last where 29 riders had already started, Marco Odermatt suffered on the second course. His style, so fluid during his first run, gave way to a certain abnegation that we are not used to seeing under the skis of the Olympic champion.
This is the 15th success in the World Cup and the 13th (!) consecutive giant podium for “Odi”, who of course flies to the top of the general classification and the discipline in the World Cup.
Loïc Meillard at the foot of the podium
Loïc Meillard lost a rank in relation to his 3rd place in the 1st heat, in favor of the Slovenian Zan Kranjec (3rd by almost a second). However, this is the best result of the season for the skier from Hérémence, who, for once, finished the course less well than during his first three runs on the Dolomites piste.
Eleventh of the 1st track, the Valaisan Justin Murisier experienced elimination following committing a fault on the inside ski. Finally, Gino Caviezel finished 15th and Daniele Sette 20th.
