Alpine skiing: Marco Odermatt narrowly misses victory in Alberta – rts.ch

Second race of the season and already 2nd podium for Marco Odermatt! Winner of the inaugural giant of Sölden in October, the Nidwalden this time won 3rd place during the descent of Lake Louise. The victory went to Norwegian Aleksander Kilde. Beat Feuz finished 5th.

He missed ten hundredths or probably three kilos from Marco Odermatt to pin the first run of his career. In Alberta, the holder of the big globe did almost everything. At the last intermediate time, the Nidwalden still had a lead of 0”15 over Kilde with an excellent speed above 100 km/h. But there was that last corner that was slightly less clean than the rest of his race. A “mistake” which is expensive in a discipline where the strongest stand in a few dust seconds.

“Odi” will be satisfied with his 5th podium in the discipline, hoping for a 1st victory next weekend at Beaver Creek on this Birds of Prey that he particularly appreciates.

Top-10 for Feuz and Hintermann

The Swiss achieved a good overall result. Arrived last in Canada to spare his knee, Beat Feuz did what was expected of him on a track that is not one of his favorites, but where he obtained 4 podiums in the past. Solid on the top, the Bernese Olympic champion also left feathers in the last 30 seconds of the race. It remains that he still won 5th place.

A member of the best downhill riders on the planet, Niels Hintermann also behaved well, staying under a second behind in 7th place. It was more complicated for Stefan Rogentin, 18th.

All these beautiful people will meet on Sunday evening for a super-G with a hungry Marco Odermatt already in search of revenge.
