Alpine skiing: double of the Italians, podium of Suter – rts.ch

The Italians dominated the first of the two descents of St. Moritz. Elena Curtoni was ahead of Sofia Goggia and Corinne Suter who signed a 4th podium in a row.

The weather with fog and a lot of fresh snow that fell in the morning reshuffled the cards. Under these conditions, the first bibs were favored. And, with her number 2, Elena Curtoni was able to take advantage of it. The 31-year-old Italian has therefore signed her third success in the World Cup, the second in downhill. Twice on the podium in Graubünden, the skier from Cosio was strong.

Curtoni was above all faster than the ultra-favorite Sofia Goggia. Second at 0”29, the Bergamasque did their best. But the concern for the one wearing the red leader’s bib is that she hit a door with her left hand. In the finish racket, Goggia was immediately taken care of by the transalpine staff before going to see the doctor. She then reappeared with some kind of plaster.

Not necessarily very comfortable in training, Corinne Suter has once once more proven that she is a racing beast. With 0.73 behind, she was able to grab 3rd place and sign her fourth podium in as many speed races this season. This is his 23rd World Cup podium. Just behind the Schwytzoise, we find Jasmine Flury who knew how to do it by starting first. Lara Gut-Behrami also made it into the top-10 with her 8th place.
