Daniel Yule picked up his 6th World Cup success on Sunday, triumphing for the 2nd time in Kitzbühel following his 2020 victory. The 29-year-old Valaisan, 7th in the first round, pulled out all the stops on the second course. He also benefited from the elimination of Manuel Feller, leader following the initial round.
A true “racing machine” in the words of his teammate Loïc Meillard (6th Sunday), Daniel Yule won with 0”40 ahead of his British “buddy” Dave Ryding (2nd) and 0”41 on Lucas Braathen (3rd). He triumphed for the second time this season, following Madonna di Campiglio just before Christmas.
This victory for the best Swiss slalomer in history also allows him to get back into the race for the Globe in the speciality. Daniel Yule is now 3rd in the discipline standings, 36 points behind Lucas Braathen and 31 over another Norwegian, Henrik Kristoffersen.
Zenhauser confirme
4th place in this slalom ranking is occupied by another Swiss, Loïc Meillard, who is however more than 100 points behind Lucas Braathen. The skier from Hérémence, 5th following the first run on Sunday, signed his fifth top 8 in 6 slaloms contested this winter.
A third Swiss ranked in the top 10 on Sunday: Ramon Zenhäusern took a superb 7th place, confirming his great return to the fore. Sandro Simonet meanwhile finished 15th, while Geneva’s Tanguy Nef, author of a promising first run, straddled the second course.
