Alpine skiing: Christine Scheyer announced her resignation

“The decision wasn’t easy for me, but I’ve been struggling with knee pain for over a year and that has simply taken away the motivation and joy of skiing that I always had at the start with,” said Scheyer. After ten years in the World Cup and the victory in Zauchensee 2017 as her greatest success, the 29-year-old would like to reorient herself.

The Vorarlberg native successfully completed her business studies last year. “It is still unclear where the next journey will take me, but I am looking forward to a new phase of my life and to the exciting challenges that await me,” said Scheyer. Due to three serious knee injuries and a long-term shoulder injury, Scheyer only completed 88 World Cup races. This season she didn’t get past two 18th places.
