A demonstration by Marco Odermatt. One more. The World Cup leader cut the Stelvio on Thursday to win his 5th victory of the winter, the 2nd in super-G, and his 16th in his career. Only Vincent Kriechmayr, winner the day before the downhill, finished under second, Loic Meillard completing the podium at 1”22. This 2nd place on the Austrian side was largely overshadowed by the surprise retirement of Matthias Mayer. The triple Olympic champion announced his end of career, with immediate effect, just after carrying out the morning reconnaissance in Bormio. A thunderclap in the world of skiing, Mayer being only 32 years old.
