Esteban Ocon qualified fourth in Monaco, but due to the penalty of Charles Leclerc, who lost three positions for blocking Lando Norris, Esteban starts third. His team-mate Pierre Gasly also reached the final, where he showed the seventh time. Alpine expects to compete for the podium and two cars to score points in the race.

Esteban Ocon (4th): “This result was preceded by a huge amount of work done. I am very pleased with the way we spend the weekend with the team. The car was difficult to drive in the first part, but I knew that the condition of the track would improve and our pace would increase. I gave my best on the last lap – it turned out great.

In fact, on the final lap I hit the wall quite hard, but fortunately we have a strong enough car so I was able to keep trying!

There is no doubt that in the race I will try to compete for the podium, but now I and the team need to realize what result we have achieved today. I’m happy with the fourth time, but let’s see what we can do tomorrow. I hope I have a good start and fight ahead.

Today’s result will give us confidence following the difficulties that the team has recently faced. He proves that we do not give up and continue to work hard.”

Pierre Gasly (7th): “I’m happy for the team – we had a great qualification and made a big step forward compared to the stage in Miami. The fourth and seventh times are a positive result, although I am a little disappointed with my performance in the final. I think I might have done better, but if we objectively evaluate the results, the team achieved a positive outcome of the session.

We have a chance to earn a lot of points. We have an important race ahead of us in which we have to bounce back following a not so successful performance in Miami and score points with two cars.
