Alpine decided on Thursday to part ways with Laurent Rossi. Managing Director of the brand since January 2021, he will now focus on projects related to the transformation of the Renault group, according to the press release published by the group.

Laurent Rossi is replaced by Philippe Krief, the brand’s current director of engineering and product performance. Krief, who has held the position since February 2023, will retain this role until a replacement is appointed.

“I would like to thank Laurent for his unfailing commitment during these two years at the head of Alpine, declared Luca de Meo, managing director of the Renault group, still in the press release. Laurent has laid down a clear and ambitious strategy for the brand. He has put Alpine in the best possible position to achieve its long-term goals. Alpine is now ready to enter a new phase in its deployment and become a brand of the future. »

Laurent Rossi paid for Alpine’s half-mast results this season: 6th place in the constructors’ standings behind Aston Martin, Ferrari and McLaren, which recently overtook them. Esteban Ocon’s podium in Monaco (3rd) for a time suggested an improvement in performance, but since then he and Pierre Gasly have not shone.

In early May, Laurent Rossi went to the front to shake up his teams and particularly team boss Otmar Szafnauer. “I don’t want to give up, but something has to change. […] It starts with admitting your mistakes. […] This year, there are many excuses that lead to poor performance and a lack of operational excellence. I have to tackle this, I need the right people to deal with it. It’s their responsibility,” he said in an interview with the official F1 website.
