Butter is made from cream obtained from milk and decrease in milk production in the country has been the main factor that has affected the production of this derivative.

The company tells that the weather has affected the pastures where the cows feedwhich has led to a decrease in milk production.

Besides, the increase in the costs of the inputs that are used in the producing farms of milk has also affected milk production.

Alpina says it is working to find new sources of cream to continue producing its popular butter. The company assures its consumers that milk production is returning to normal and that the butter shortage is temporary.

On this topic Óscar Cubillos, Director of Planning and Economic Studies at Fedegán
, he also linked the shortage of butter with low milk production.

“The issue has to do with the issue of milk production. If you look at the same figures from DANE, for the past five consecutive quarters milk has had a downward production trend. Consequently, as in butter yes“The main raw material is milk, and the fat from it, because then its production has also been falling,” explained in Mornings Blu.

In addition, the reduction is due to the increase in production costs, the increase in of imported inputs and adverse weather have also affected milk production in the country.

The exchange issue, for many inputs that are imported, because it also has an affectation there. The weather there comes as a duality regarding it. We have been experiencing the La Niña phenomenon for almost three years and excess water is also detrimental to pasture production,” Cubillos explained.
