Jonathan Eddolls, Chief Race Engineer of Scuderia AlphaTauri, looks back on the work on the second day of the 2022 F1 Bahrain test.
On the second day, Yuki Tsunoda was in charge of running on AT03. Yuki Tsunoda, who mainly focused on long runs and race simulation, ran 120 laps, which was the most personal number of the day, and finished the session with a time of 1’36.802, which was the 10th fastest time.
“Today was the version of Yuuki riding in the car. In the morning we focused on aerodynamic mapping before entering the block of mechanical setup,” commented Jonathan Eddolls.
“The start of the day was very windy, dusty and the expected road temperature was high, making it difficult to balance across the lap. The completed test items found some interesting directions. So I analyzed it in more detail tonight and used it to define the test matrix for tomorrow’s final day. “
“After lunch, we started an uninterrupted race simulation with all three tire compounds, which helped Yuuki as well as the rest of the team to prepare for next week.”
“The car was generally reliable and the mechanics completed the job efficiently, which allowed us to complete the entire plan of finishing in 120 laps 649.44km.”
“The last day of the last eight hours before the first race weekend in 2022 will be shared between the drivers, Pierre in the morning and Yuuki in the followingnoon.”
