AlphaCode could replace the work of programmers in the future

The company DeepMind, dedicated to projects of artificial intelligence UK, has tested a neural network, AlphaCode, which writes Software. Its creators claim that the system is capable of solving mid-level tasks in a programming competition and that in the future it might complete the process of creating programs fully automatically.

Developers train AlphaCode through tasks used in human programming competitions on the specialized platform Codeforces. Solving the tasks will require a combination of critical thinking, logic, algorithms, and coding skills.

AlphaCode has performed ten tests. To solve the tasks, the neural network did not use prepared templates but generated new code, this is the first time that an artificial intelligence is able to compete with mid-level experts.

The project is in its early stages but is already beyond the skills of novice and even more experienced programmers. The creators believe that AlphaCode will allow the encoding process to be fully automated in the future.
