AlphaTauri F1 wanted to sign a new driver to allow Pierre Gasly to join Alpine to replace Fernando Alonso.

Initially, AlphaTauri F1 was not a viable option due to problems obtaining the F1 Superlicence, which was trying to bring IndyCar star Colton Herta.

With Nick de Vries impressing in his first F1 appearance, AlphaTauri F1 are set to sign De Vries for 2023.

However, talk of an agreement between Nick de Vries and AlphaTauri F1 may be premature. Helmut Marko has confirmed to the Dutch press that “negotiations are ongoing” but says nothing has been finalized yet.

The Haas F1 team is eyeing former Renault and current Aston Martin reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg, with Mick Schumacher potentially out of the F1 seat for 2023.

With Nick de Vries unlikely to be in the driver market just yet, Williams could reportedly promote Logan Sargent to F2 if he secures an F1 superlicence.
